
Steffen Dix
Saxophonist
Steffen Dix, born in 1981 in Ulm, Germany, is a celebrated saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, and composer. He studied jazz saxophone, clarinet, and flute at the State Conservatory of Music in Stuttgart and Vienna, graduating summa cum laude in 2009. Since then, he has worked as a freelance musician and composer, engaging in diverse projects that blend jazz, world music, electronic music, and visual arts. Steffen has received several prestigious awards, including the "Young Lions Jazz Award" in 2009, the "Creole Award for Global Music in Germany" in 2014 with his brass band Volxtanz, and the "Dieter Seelow Jazzfond Prize" in 2016 for his cross-cultural work with NeckarGanga. A dedicated educator, Steffen has been a faculty member at the International Music Centre Ashram for the past decade, where he teaches saxophone and inspires students to explore the intersection of diverse musical styles and cultures.
